I should note that this fellow was in the Tikrit area only through late September/early October, which, if I'm not mistaken, was before the U.S. really cracked down. I guess it takes quite a long time to rotate out of the country.

 
He also said the number of guerilla attacks is greatly, greatly in excess of what's reported, and the same is true of the number of wounded U.S. troops. And Halliburton (sp?) and the other civilian contractors are loathed, just totally hated, by the rank and file troops.
