Because the insurgency is considered to be more newsworthy, and maybe appropriately so, since, if the insurgency succeeds, there won't be many pro-American Iraqis in a year or two. News of currently pro-American Iraqis hasn't exactly been entirely neglected, either (e.g. George Packer wrote about a pro-American Iraqi family in part of a sprawling and ambivalent piece on the occupation in the New Yorker).
