We
>are skeptical of approaches which attempt to fix punk in a single meaning
>and seek contributions which emphasize punk as a field in which there are
>many different intentions and struggles.

Anyone else listen to the last Silver Jews record, Bright Flight? Berman warbles midsong through Tennessee: "Punk rock died when the first kid said/ 'Punk's not dead, punk's not dead!'"

After suffering through "Our Band Could Be Your Life," I can't see how this could seem relevant. Once you get through Lipstick Traces, Please Kill Me, and England's Dreaming, I don't know what more you could take out of punk.

I'll forward this info to Jay Hinman (formerly author of popular left coast zine Superdope) who now blogs at agonyshorthand.blogspot.com. Worth reading, even if he doesn't like your favorite bands.

cheers, jt. r
