The Christian Right continues to be strong within the Republican Party, and their apocalyptic style influences the Bush militarism. In the larger scheme of things there is a major culture war going on in the U.S., but different sectors have different influences on different fronts in the battle.
The Christian Right has not been happy with its failure to change commercialism and materialism in the U.S. culture--and its failure to stop abortion and start prayer in schools. They are currently mounting a major chalenge against gay rights.
Not all conservative evangelicals vote Republican.
To say the Christian Right has lost the Culture War is overly simplistic.
