Ivanov for trilateral ties

By Vladimir Radyuhin

MOSCOW, JAN. 18. The Russian Defence Minister, Sergei Ivanov, has called for trilateral defence cooperation between India, Russia and China, as the spread of weapons of mass destruction poses the main threat of the 21st century.

Mr. Ivanov, who arrives in India on Monday for a three-day visit, said he would welcome Moscow-Delhi-Beijing cooperation, including in the sphere of defence and joint development of new weapons.

"This would help promote stability and security in Asia," he said adding, though, that triangular defence cooperation could come only after the three countries build strong political ties.
