It's an attractive option. Indo-Soviet/Russian ties have always been cordial ties, since Bulganin and Khruschev visited India 50 years ago. But prospects depend on:

-Quick resolution of India-China border dispute. Both countries should agree to convert the line of actual control into an international border

-Restoration of Russian economy to pre-Yeltin levels, so that trade and technology transfers can begin.
