That's true, Carrol, but the suggestion was that the US labour movement has
organic ties to the Democratic Party extending deep into the rank and file
which many on the left have difficulty accepting, and taking into account in
distinguishing between the the two parties. The reported 50000 election
volunteers for Kerry within a single union is not insignificant, and this
degree of electoral mobilization is probably true of other unions and social
movements as well. And within the framework of electoral politics, how are
these SEIU members "wrong" in concluding that a Democratic administration
would be better disposed to the labour movement in regard to legislation and
regulatory appointments than the Republicans, and working towards that end?
