[lbo-talk] Moore on celebrity culture

I don't know what speech this is, but Moore's on WMNF right now for their fund raising drive. This is the first time I've ever listened to him.

Has anyone ever listened to him?

Cause he's sounding like someone worth listening to. He just said something like, "Don't look to me to change this. We can't have a celebrity culture where someone like me or Nader is the one to do everything. The only way anything can happen is if we all get off our asses and do something."

He's pretty funny.

Also, he's talking about how much more progressive u.sers are than many people would like to think. Etc.

For those who know, does he mean what he's saying? Seems so to me. Like I said before, I never really followed him other than to use his films when I'm teaching. The next time he came to my attn was the brouhaha about how the left ought to go bowling with 'ordinary' people and catch an errant klew.

Sorry for overpost, but I was really curious. He's pretty compelling. A lot more interesting to listen to than most speakers.
