There is an alternative to business school - economic sociology. It institutionalist (as opposed to the rat choice mantra) in its core behavioral model and critical and irreverent in demeanor. Think of it as Dilbert with extensive references. The bosses really hate it.
A good place to start is Neil J. Smelser and Richard Swedberg, (eds), The handbook of economic sociology, Princeton U. Press, 1994. Check also Charles Perrow, Complex organizations: a critical essay, McGraw Hill 1986; Mark Grannovetter abd Richard Swedberg (eds.) The Sociology of economic life, Westview Press, 1992; and Sharon Zukin and Paul DiMaggio (eds), Structures of capital; the social organization of t eeconomy, Cambridge U Press 1991.
