sharpton's made a few mistakes in his career. when the racists can conceal their hate behind a pretense at focusing on these mistakes, they are more virulent. al pushed some very good buttons with his speech. this must make it even more upsetting for the bigots.
race is one of those neat little "wedge issues" the right wing is so fond of. heck, it's the basis of the "southern strategy." makes colon and condi even more disgusting for siding with and fronting for people who hate them. it's almost as bad as the jewish lobby making pals with the fundamentalist armageddon faction.
