Apparently that was the Muslim Association of Britain.

Given the brief runthrough of their website I did, they're about as "fundamentalist" as Catholic Church.

And one SWPer who apparently was at this demo didn't see much of anything happening:

"As far as I know, the incident at the Palestine rally did not take place in the manner Cohen describes. His description seems to be based on a later (anonymous) Indymedia posting, heavily challenged at the time: in any case, it is difficult to see how the protagonists in a supposedly large crowd can be so precisely identified as SWP members, Anglican priests (definitely Anglican?), etc etc. I was in Trafalgar Square on a stall for the entire rally, saw Tatchell and OutRage, and was totally unaware at the time - either by sight or hearsay - of any altercation taking place of the significance Cohen implies."

You can find this comment, and the person's blog and e-mail address, at Lenin's site:

http://www.leninology.blogspot.com/

under the heading "Cohen's Own Party".

Is there a less "biased" account of what happened, not given by two people so obviously involved, I'd like to hear it.

Todd
