for believers in polls, there was one taken back in 1976, at the time of the bi-centennial, which produced results indicating that this country was full of socialists who just didn't know what it was they were believing in...
as in any poll under any circumstances, the design of questions and format has as much to do with results as any alleged belief system purported to belong to the polled, and this one was weighted in the direction of social democracy and socialistic thought...guess what? "Americans" displayed a "wide, abiding desire for socialism"..
