Russia, S Korea hold joint anti-terrorist exercises
Agence France-Presse Vladivostok, June 16
Russian and South Korean security services and border guards are holding joint anti-terrorist exercises off Russia's Pacific coast on Wednesday, Russia's local FSB state security service said.
The exercises "involve eight ships, two helicopters, a South Korean commando team and a Russian emergency group," the FSB's Pacific regional border department said in a statement.
The exercises have Russian and South Korean border guards work on ways to seize a ship captured by terrorists, arrest assailants and rescue the wounded and hostages, the statement read.
The exercises are the first of their kind, aimed at stepping up cooperation in dealing with terrorism in Pacific Asia, officials added.
