Kerry Campaign and Democratic National Committee Announce Performers for New York Victory 2004 Concert
Washington, D.C. - The Kerry campaign and the Democratic National Committee announced today that the New York City concert benefiting the "Kerry Victory Committee 2004" is now officially rescheduled for July 8, after having been postponed for President Ronald Reagan's funeral. The NY Concert will feature performances by Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Wyclef Jean, and Whoopi Goldberg among others.
Speaking about the upcoming concert, Dave Matthews said, "Whether one is talking about the economy or the environment, jobs, workers' rights or education, national security or the war on terror, John Kerry is the only choice. A vote for John Kerry is a vote for a stronger, safer, better America."
An earlier kickoff concert on behalf of the "Kerry Victory Committee 2004" will be held in Los Angeles on June 24, 2004. The Los Angeles event will feature Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson, Billy Crystal and other performers to be announced. Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond will be performing together for the first time in 24 years.
"The support for John Kerry and our party has been overwhelming," said DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe. "We are pleased to have the support and energy of this amazingly talented group of people."
The New York concert will be staged at Radio City Music Hall on July 8, 2004. The Los Angeles concert on June 24, 2004 is taking place at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Jann Wenner will be executive produce for both the Los Angeles and New York concerts Tom Gorman will serve as Managing Director for both events. In New York, Wenner and Weinstein will work with John Sykes, chairman and CEO of Infinity Broadcasting System to produce the concert. Bette Sussman will be the concert's musical director. In Los Angeles the concert will also be produced by Harvey Weinstein, co-chair of Miramax, Marty Erlichman and Ken Ehrlich.
In New York, designated sections of Radio City Musical Hall will be open to the general public for the event. Tickets for the New York concert will go on sale on TK, 2004 for $250 and $500.
