to most liberals, an upper class Venezuelan doesn't qualify as "latino", since it is unlikely that he ever did gardening, took care of babies or cleaned houses, for upper middle class liberals who support immigration, so long as it supports the system, costs them little, and to hell with those immigrants, communities and social services who suffer its total lack of planning in a "free" market environment...

as in:

"Nader is taking a position and creating alliances that will alienate large numbers of latinos and pro-immigrant progressives."

it is doubtful that upper class Venezuelans are among the "large numbers" alluded to, though upper class liberals who can afford household servants may occur in the second group...
