Synkivka (Chernihiv Region, Ukraine), 27 June: Vladimir Putin is certain that the young people of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus will support integrationist processes.
"Young people understand better than anyone else the benefits of economic integration and the expansion of the spheres of culture, science and education. Young people have a better understanding of how all this enormous potential can be used to implement the most ambitious plans," the Russian president said at the opening of the Friendship 2004 youth festival.
"For as long as such an attitude towards our cooperation and our rapprochement remains on the part of our young people, I am absolutely convinced that no great power chauvinists or nationalists will succeed in dragging us off to their musty loony bins," Putin said. [Passage omitted]
