[lbo-talk] Racism

As for racism, I'd prefer

1) to see it focus on the one form of racism that currently enables the militaristic American rampage across the world, rather than a bundle of free-floating abstractions; In particular, where does anti-Arab racism (and by extension, anti-Islamic bigotry) come from? WHO ARE ITS MOST ACTIVE PROPAGATORS? Some of them are Hindu ;-)

2) that it not end in a guilt-tripping debauch. Which, btw, was the real effect of the scene with the wailing Iraqi mother, to be quickly washed away, oh halleluyah sweet lord jesus, by a move to Flint, Michigan. You know how our Americans can't stand guilt. But they shouldn't be made to feel guilty in the first place.

I recall just a couple days after 911 walking about downtown Oakland, CA. There was this one guy aggressively striding down the street loudly bellowing out, "Death to the Arabs!". Here in the liberal heart of the "liberal" Bay Area.

He was an African-American.

I submit that the Arab has become the "Global Jew".

take your pick, chris.

i'd like to see the members from "India, Russia, Israel, South Africa, the UK, Japan, Malasia, Brazil, and Australia" speak for themselves if they have input on race. what race are they? do they consider themselves from or connected to the dominant culture in their countries? and why? and so forth. if they wish to dicuss racial issues.

since the topic's wide open, let someone start a new thread
