I find this anachronism, classifying people who are said to have lived
thousands of years ago in terms of current PC argot more than a little
absurd. Equally absurdly there are some Muslims who maintain most
aggressively that Muhammad was white. In the case of the legendary
Jewish bachelor, there is not a hell of a lot of evidence that he
existed at all, outside of Christian sources, never mind which of the
currently defined 'races' he would have fallen into had he been living
in the US today or in apartheid South Africa. If, as I suspect, his life
is nothing more than a legend, made up various other myths and legends
of the Near East cobbled together, then it follows that you can make him
any colour you want. A man for all seasons, as it were.
