While I agree with the gist of your argument there were more than three U.S. auto manufacturers in the Golden Age although the "Big Three"; GM, Ford, and Chrysler, owned about 75% of the market. There was Auburn, Studebaker, Cord, Packard, Duesenberg, Pierce-Arrow, Durant, Graham-Paige etc. There were far fewer joint ventures also. I don't think the auto industry is one of the better examples to use to make your case.
