Sibneft accused of $1 billion tax evasion

Russia s tax ministry has announced that oil major Sibneft owes the state one billion US dollars in back taxes. In a notice to the company the ministry demanded that Sibneft pays off the debt for the period of 2000-2001.Sibneft is now working to reverse the merger deal with the YUKOS Oil Company, which the tax ministry has earlier accused of even larger-scale tax evasion.
