I admit to be a bit too pessimistic from time to time (especially when my depression sets in), abut the charge of being naïve is simply groundless.

I do not believe in immaculate conception. I understand that the myth of immaculate conception is an integral part of many ideologies, from Christianity, to the Soviet brand of Communism, to Hitlerism, and to US corporate success stories. Things do not happen by sheer will power, they happen because there are material resources available, opportunities to deploy these resources in a desired direction, which also implies the ability of overcome any opposition. It is those who dream of mansions while living on heap of garbage, as in Akiro Kurosawa's film Dodeska den (http://www.foreignfilms.com/films/1252.asp http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID.901/vcd./qx/details.htm) who are naïve.

Anyone who has even the most rudimentary understanding of the power structure in the US would recognize that the proposition of organizing a socialist movement in the US that can gain sufficient power to make a difference in the US politics is pure fantasy, pipe dream of someone with six degrees of separation from reality.

Convince me otherwise, if I am missing something. Show me the forces and their resources that are capable of beating the corporations, and tell me exactly what institutional order (not a welfare wish list!) they can install in instead of the existing one.
