What puzzles me is why anybody thinks that Miller is funny or entertaining. He certainly was never funny on Saturday Night Live. Can you all remember *any* funny character(s) that he created? Probably not. All he did was a halfway funny reading of their fake news.

Alterman was very composed considering Miller's adolescent behavior. Miller's sschtick probably plays well to a small audience of hard core Republican Bush-lovers, but anybody else who watches that episode will have more sympathy for Alterman. It's also interesting that the right-wing talk shows are letting anti-war and anti-Bush views get aired. Normally political demogogues are very obsessed with controlling discourse over issues they hold dear. I have to imagine that hearing these views on shows like Dennis Miller combined with all the anti-war views now appearing in the rest of the media is causing a bit of cognitive dissonance for more and more conservatives.

But I really think that many of these right-wingers are living in a bubble. They may hear all the news questioning the Bush regime, but they just tune it out. And I think this denial will just bite them hard on the ass later this year. I really think that everybody underestimates how mad independent voters are about the dishonest reasons for invading Iraq.
