Woj responded to Carrol's statment that, "SSRIs can _bring on_ manic episodes. That's how some bipolar patients first learn they are bipolar; they are prescribed an SSRI and it sends them into a loop. In fact it is difficult to treat bipolar 'lows' without setting off bipolar 'highs.'"
Does this statement suggest to you that Carrol does not respect a) and b) (below)?
What Carrol was actually saying was that Woj was engaged in a pointless rhetorical tactic. RAther that give Carrol a serious response, he painted Carrol has likely believing Witchcraft or Pyschoanalysis. Why would Woj think that? Because apparently this is what one should conclude about your interlocutor if they summarize recent research finding about SSRIs, a research finding that suggests that they aren't so great for people with bipolar disorder.
this is a rude debate tactic that passes for polite discourse. polite? my furry ass.
>b) the experiences of the millions of
>people who've benefitted from talk therapy and/or SSRIs.
I don't know what sort of crack-laced welch's grape and sterno cocktail you sip while reading the list, but anyone who'd actually read Carrol on this or related threads recently would know that they wouldn't have to explain b) to Carrol.
