Just out of curiousity, when did Chomsky publish in Commentary? If it was in the 1960s, then it was still a liberal magazine. If it was after 1970, then I can't imagine him publishing there except as part of a heated debate where he denounced the magazine's editors and they denounced him. He's been the neocons' bete noire since before they were called that, and especially on Israel -- and Commentary, besides being the original and abiding flagship of neoconservativism, is also the house organ of the American Jewish Committee.

So if Commentary published him in a spirit of confraternity, it would be very surprising and worth noting. Did it really happen?
