GDP grew 6.1% year-on-year in January-February 2003.
Preliminary figures from the ministry put year-on-year GDP growth at 8.7% in February 2004. The economy grew 7.9% in January.
Russia's GDP increased 7.3% in 2003. The Economic Development Ministry forecasts GDP growth of 5.2% in 2004. This official forecast may be revised up in the next few days.
First Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Ulyukaev said last week in New York that the Russian economy might expand 6% in 2004. <>
