So let me make sure I have this straight: a small country and groups claiming to represent about 1-2% of the U.S. population determine the policies followed by the most powerful imperial power the world has ever known, forcing it to operate against its own interests?

I'm assuming that's a joke, and not one of those cheap rhetorical points based on the "Arabs are Semites too" nonsense.
