In fact the celebration in some of those places is larger and more radical than the one in New York City. I have found reports of May Day celebrations across the US over the past three years and put them into a collection so that these people can see that their celebration is happening all over the US, and that they are not isolated. My page will be updated as more reports come in .

We had a May Day picnic in Columbia, Missouri yesterday as part of a very succesful semiannual Great Plains Anarchist Network meeting. We had our modest shindig in Peace Park on the campus of the University of Missouri. One of the highlights was this dude who dressed up as Big Bill Haywood and gave a speech about who Haywood was and what he did in the labor movement.

I heard some rumors later about some other May Day stuff that happened in Columbia.

For me, it was just an inspiring weekend to spend talking politics and organizing with anarchists from southern Illinois to South Dakota.

On an antiwar activism note: late last night I was walking to a friend's house in Columbia after seeing a free showing of "The Office" as some theater and I ran into some local peace activists who were doing a sit-in outside the Amry recruiting center. It looked like a bunch of them were prepared to spend the night in sleeping bags. Don't know much more about that protest.
