Agreed. However, in light of the discussion as to whether the cultural revolution of the sixties was cosmetic/narcissistic or grew deeper roots, I think one can say that this "abusive pictures" incident would argue for the roots. After all, in addition to the racism and sadism, there was revulsion, there was disapproval, and there was discovery -- up to and including the condemnatory report penned by the army. And all this happened fairly quickly, relatively speaking. The racism started the war and the racism will have lost it.
