You're a socialist, right? I could say that being a socialist today is to embrace an impossible position. If politics consisted of only taking pragmatic positions, people like us (and, given the realities of the political spectrum today, we're far more alike than different, despite our arguments) could just as well give up.

How is the international force any less realistic than a U.S. pullout, anyway? It has support in Iraq, and support almost everywhere else in the world outside the U.S.
