The case for Rumsfeld being kicked out over this hasn't been made.  There 
has been no proof that he has been involved in the torture of Iraqi 
prisoners, or that he condoned it.  The only charge that has been laid on 
him is that he withheld the information from the President - a smart move, 
given that the President's first move would then be to go on air and 
announce that "We are taking invasive action, probing all cavities, and 
mounting several Iraqis..."

If Rumsfeld should lose his job, it ought to be over the fact that he is a 
mass murdering pillock with about as much capacity with the English language 
as Forrest Gump.
