Of course, the reason that creeps like Bush & Rummy don't like to apologize (though Bush apologized not for what people under his command did, but for the "humliation" felt by Iraqis) is that they fear it weakens their authority and prestige. Has it? Are these guys now damaged goods? Or will they pull that old "say sorry, don't dwell on the past, let's move on" trick?

Didn't Clinton apologize to a few countries regarding past US imperial adventures? Apologies that then served as exquisite fig leafs for the 'military humanism' of his time in office, perhaps? With the Bushies as the unClintons, this must be putting a hurtin' on the synapses.
