[lbo-talk] Query on Brezhnev

Does anybody out there have any biograpraphical data on Brezhnev? It suddenly occured to me that I know almost nothing about this guy who was General Secretary for 20 years. Stalin was a cobbler's son; Khrushchev was working class; Gorbachev was a peasant. What the hell was Brezhnev's background? How did he ever make it so high up the political ladder? (He hardly strikes me as having been a spectacular politician.)
