looking at these results, can anyone seriously believe that a left Dem would have done better? it seems like a left Dem would have been smashed completely. it came down to the us position in the world, didn't it, given that approval ratings on domestic policy were not good (but can we believe the polls anymore?).

whatever, it also looks like dreams of some massive anti-war movement post-elections are toast. the numbers may still come out, but it's the gathering of the (dwindling?, definitely minority) faithful, and bush and the neo-cons can legitimately claim that with the numbers he's getting.

the us electorate has spoken, and the rest of the world had better take note rather than comfort themselves with all manner of rationalisations.

gosh, i hope the draft is re-introduced!
