Get over it. The election is over. The DP leadership will see to it that all questions about it are shunted aside.

"The world didn’t come to an end." (Chomsky)

But there is a war on, and we have to stop it. That won't be done quickly, and hundreds of thousands will die, more hundreds of thousands have their lives ruined, before it is over, but weeping over elections doesn't help anything.

A year ago a number of people on this list insisted that it was possible to do "two things at once," support the DP and organize against the war. Now those same people are showing that they can do only one thing at a time -- complain about the world.

Mr. Housman's Message

O WOE, woe

People are born and die,

We also shall be dead pretty soon

Therefore let us act as if we were

dead already.

The bird sits on the hawthorn tree

But he dies also, presently,

Some lads get hung, and some get shot.

Woeful is this human lot.

_Woe! woe, etcetera. . . ._

London is a woeful place,

Shropshire is much pleasanter.

Then let us smile a little space

Upon fond nature's morbid grace.

_Oh, Woe, woe, woe, etcetra...._
