As I said in an earlier reply to Yoshie - I was attempting to argue that a tactic can be devised that absorbs both sides of a divisive issue within a 'socialist' biased proposal for resolution (of the issue). It was merely an example, as I pretend no expertise on the issue.
As another example, take gun violence and the second amendment. Adjusting social conditions with the objective of eliminating gun violence can be evaluated statistically for success if guns remain legal and unrestricted. One of the tools of such an attempt might mean dismantling the drug war - I would hope, a socialist agenda. But entry to the 'table' is gained by the twin aspects of the proposal - eliminating violence and keeping guns unrestricted.
They had a strategy and 30 years and they haven't realized their goal. That's another good supporting argument to bring to the table.
