"The Columbus Free-Press has been assiduously watchdogging the voting exceptions in Ohio. Voting irregularities have been the subject of four community public hearings, in Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland, and the newspaper says

A clear pattern and practice of voter disenfranchisement is emerging.

Today the Free-Press analyzes two additional elements in Election Day mis-management that could have played pivotal roles in creating the results that favored Bush in spite of primary indicators that Kerry would be the winner.

Number one is the (mis)allocation of voting machines to various precincts, a factor in the long lines experienced in heavily Democratic areas. And number two is the failure of the State Board of Elections to provide Spanish-speaking poll workers (not to mention failure to provide Spanish translation of ballots or ballot instructions) in heavily Hispanic districts."
