you remind me of a guy on a list for technical writers. he'd meander into the discussion every so often, annoy the hell out of everyone accusing them of not being technical enough, and too concered with things like grammar, fonts, and usability. all that fluffy, squishy stuff. yuck. then he'd finish his rant and say, "Now get to work, you."

It would annoy a lot of people. Other people loved him b/c they got off on vicariously living life as his list persona, scolding all the supposedly 'non-technically oriented' writers who'd come to the job as English Phuds.

Thing is, what annoyed people was how he acted as if he were their boss. what business was it of his if they were screwing around, typing at an email discussion lists?

Clue was to understand that he wasn't scolding other people, just pretending to do so. He was really scolding himself because _he_ felt guilty for fucking off on the job.
