Arms, crude and metals -- global oil powerhouses Russia and Venezuela are moving to intensify economic ties at a time when each country's leader could use a little international support and more chips to bargain with when dealing with the United States, the world's biggest oil consumer.
During a three-day visit to Moscow by a Venezuelan delegation led by Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel, officials from both countries announced plans to conclude billions of dollars' worth of business deals in areas ranging from aluminum to aircraft.
