Other people may have knowledge about unix/linux recovery software, but here's one important tip: do not write to the disk or even shutdown the computer. (e.g., if you find an undelete utility, or a useful html document, save it to a floppy, not the hard drive.) Any new files written could overwrite the old data. (The data you deleted is probably still there on the hard drive, you just obliterated the file handle that allows you to see and retrieve it.)
