Oct 21 2004 11:30AM Core sector output rises 6.9% in Jan-Sept MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - The production of goods and services in Russia's five core economic sectors (industry, agriculture, construction, transport and retail trade) increased 6.9% year-on-year in January-September, the Federal State Statistics Service reported.

In September alone, output of goods and services in the core sectors was up just 2.8% (7.2% in August and 6.3% in July), and it was up just 0.5% compared to August.

In January-September of 2003, the production of goods and services in the core sectors had also increased 6.9% from the same nine months in 2002; growth was 9.0% in September last year.

Industrial output came to 8.062 trillion rubles in January-September this year, a 6.5% year-on-year increase. September industrial output was worth 1 trillion rubles, up 3.5% year-on-year.
