What was Gorby trying to do intially? Create democratic socialism, 
social democracy, liberal democracy? Where did his support come from? 
What were the divisions/preferences within the CPSU? Was he surprised 
with the way things turned out? Would he do anything differently? How 
in control was he of events, or were larger social/historical forces 
in the driver's seat?
