One note on the Eminem video: what may seem to be creepy references to
Riefenstahl are nothing of the sort. The cartoonish block figures are an
explicit reference to the 3D videogame culture, and a couple of shots are
lifted directly from the intro to 2001's blockbuster "Max Payne". The
director was, if not a bit closer to heaven, then at least a keen reader
of the media culture.

Shouts out to Em, as well as to Rockstar Games for the mega-classic
blowout of "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas", for wresting the mass media
Palantir from the Enemy. There's hope for Nov 2.
