If the purpose is conversation (or even heated argument that confronts different positions), however, it has to be put this way. _All_ sections of "the left" are concerned with gaining power, and left debate is concerned with conflicting conceptions of how that can be achieved, of what left power consists of, and of what the resources of the left are at this time.
