Incredibly difficult circumstances? What would those be? Were they worse than having to deal with the 9-11 attacks which seriously fucked up the movement in September 2001? As somebody who sunk 6 months of his life into organizing those protests, only to see them "cancelled" by the liberals after the 9-11 attacks, I'd like to know what adverse circumstances UFPJ has endured.

How many people could Don't Just Vote turn out?

Given the same resources as UFPJ? They'd probably turn out more people. The folks involved with Don't Just Vote are some of the best protest organizers around. They are standing on solid ground when it comes to criticizing UFPJ.

UFPJ did a pretty good job, despite their fucking negotiations with the police and their insufferable use of peacekeepers. Any group that uses peacekeepers or protest wardens sucks in my book. Leave the policing to the police.

But it would be a mistake to give UFPJ too much credit. Pretty much any competent left organization could have turned out a quarter million people for the RNC protests, simply because they'd be organizing a bandwagon in front of a tidal wave of anti-Bush dissent.
