The adulation of small, vicious, obscure men who make it may not be surprising -- considering the number of people who are small, angry, and obscure.

What is unusual about Bush is the fact that he is an extraordinarly privileged man who, by dint of a PR machine (and unequalled meanness/smallness) has managed to capture the same audience and the same sentiments.

The first time as tragedy; the second time as farce--as the bearded one put it.
