Two different things have happened.  Both parties have
turned to the right on labor issues, particularly
since the end of the postwar boom.  On the other hand,
and not just on labor issues, the Dems have become
more homogeneously left, and the Repugs ditto right. 
So the Dems are the best of a worsening lot.
