The Butane Group presents

THE LONELINESS OF NOAM CHOMSKY (a multimedia performance)

"The performance arrives as an assault on not only your eyes and ears but also your mind. Chomsky's points of view are on such fervent, undiluted display that the faint of heart - or belief - are advised to stay away. Everyone else is in for one heck of a time, regardless of positioning on the political spectrum . . ."

--Matthew Murray, Talkin' Broadway (http://www.talkinbroadway.com/ob/02_27_04.html)

with Judson Kniffen, Alanna Medlock, Aya Ogawa

Director: Noel Salzman Dramaturg: Tamara Schmidt Set: David Esler Costumes: Lora LaVon Lights: Kevin Hardy Sound: Katie Down with Stefano Zazzera Video: Brian Nishii with Kristin Petliski

Inside a mirrored box embedded with video monitors, THE LONELINESS OF NOAM CHOMSKY (A PERFORMANCE) frames a layered and contradictory portrait of Chomsky as a political activist, linguist, idol, despised prophet and mortal man. The show represents a novel way of arranging politically charged non-fiction into something intriguing and challenging (and very funny). The show captures the complexities of the unexpressed emotional subtexts of his work.
