It does. The US Empire can end with a bang - or a whimper. I'm voting for
the whimper, on the plausible grounds of minimizing the carnage of the
transition period. We have to try to trigger the handbrake now, before the
body count spirals into the hundreds of thousands and millions. It's not
too late.
