>Will there even be 10,000?
>Sad, really pathetic.

The Million Worker March is an effort led by a left-wing Black trade union leader, organized by rank-and-file activists in the labor movement. In my view, 10,000 Black and Black-led rank-and-file labor activists organizing on their own initiative are more worth knowing and supporting than 500,000 random whites. The UfPJ-led anti-RNC march had a great turnout and received sympathetic media coverage, but it did NOTHING politically -- contrary to the hope of the march organizers and participants, W. shot up in polls afterward. An overwhelming focus on the AnybodyButBush-themed "The-World-Says-No-to-the-Bush-Agenda" anti-RNC march was a political error of historic proportions.

It's understandable that John Sweeney and the like don't want to even endorse the Million Worker March, which they think gets in the way of supporting John Kerry.

What's sad and pathetic is that predominantly white anti-war coalitions and organizations are doing little to nothing to mobilize for the Million Worker March, even though UfPJ, the Green Party, etc. for instance endorsed it at least on paper (you don't know that from their respective homepages, though).

Cf. Learn Why We Need a Million Worker March. Listen to Clarence Thomas of ILWU Local 10 and Ralph Schoenman of Pacifica Radio explain in detail the causes for and benefits of a Million Worker march on Washington. This interview was broadcast on KPFA - Guns and Butter with host Bonnie Faulkner
