this mess exemplifies the marvel of rovian misdirection and media complicity. society is focused on the authenticity of the documents rather (no pun intended) than on their contents. even mrs. shrub (who might be considered an authority) in a TV interview didn't say shrub served in alabama, or that he didn't get into and out of the guard due to pull, or that he didn't violate a direct order, etc; she merely said the documents were frauds. no one seems to be contradicting the content of the memos.
as i understand it, gary trudeau has a $25,000 reward out for anyone who can prove shrub was in alabama when and where he was supposed to be; and the texas group backing kerry's swift boat service offers a $50,000 reward for the same. this isn't getting much media play and no takers.
